CHICAGO – Women in insurance do not have equal representation in the workplace. Even though they start their careers with men at similar job levels, far fewer women become senior leaders; and only a very few end up on the path to becoming CEO. Even though men now stand as allies to convert attitudes and diminish barriers, gender equality is far from being accomplished. As a presenter at the Society of Actuaries Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, Margaret Resce Milkint, managing partner of The Jacobson Group, will discuss the challenges and opportunities she experienced along the way to her career success.
“Women in insurance experience many roadblocks while navigating their career journeys,” said Milkint. “Now is the time for female leaders to mentor and champion young female professionals to rise to leadership roles and positively influence the workplace culture.”
The session titled “Women’s Leadership Forum & Luncheon” is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. CDT on October 15, 2018, and will be moderated by Mary J. Bahna-Nolanm from SCOR. Milkint will be joined by two other presenters: Salene Hitchcock-Gear, president of Prudential Individual Life Insurance, and Kelly J. Rabin, chief life actuary at Farmers New World Life. This session will discuss what women can do to pursue growth and leadership roles in the current environment. A luncheon open to all conference participants will be held after the discussion.
As managing partner of Jacobson, Milkint oversees executive management engagements across all industry verticals for the firm’s executive search practice. Her insurance-specific labor-market expertise is highly sought after, and she is regularly called on to share her insights with various industry associations and publications. Milkint co-founded the Women’s Insurance Networking Group, a platform for leading industry females to network and celebrate successes. She chairs the Million Women Mentors Women in Insurance Initiative. In addition, Margaret serves as the U.S. committee chair for the Insurance Supper Club, which provides a network and forum for senior-level women in the insurance industry on a global basis, and the U.S. co-chair of Dive In. She is also a proud trustee of The Actuarial Foundation and a champion for the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s Women in Insurance Conference Series.
