CHICAGO – Women in insurance do not have equal representation in the workplace. Even though they start their careers with men at similar job levels, far fewer women become senior leaders; and only a very few end up on the path to becoming CEO. Even though men now stand as allies to convert attitudes and diminish barriers, gender equality is far from being accomplished. As a panelist at the Insurance Business America Women in Insurance Conference in Chicago, Margaret Resce Milkint, managing partner of The Jacobson Group, will discuss how women can help themselves overcome these challenges.
“Though much progress has been made in recent years, the gender gap still persists in the insurance industry. Parity is a must to move the industry forward,” said Milkint. “Now is the time for female leaders and enlightened males to mentor and champion female professionals and positively influence the workplace culture.”
The session titled “What Is the Future for Female Leaders in Insurance?” is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. CDT on September 12, 2018, and will be moderated by Joyce Hall Mellinger from Zurich North America. Milkint will be joined by two other panelists: Linda Fisher, owner of Cardinal Insurance Group, and Leanne Berry, business development director at AIG. This session will discuss what women can do to help themselves succeed in the current environment.
As managing partner of Jacobson, Milkint oversees executive management engagements across all industry verticals for the firm’s executive search practice. Her insurance-specific labor-market expertise is highly sought after, and she is regularly called on to share her insights with various industry associations and publications. Milkint co-founded the Women’s Insurance Networking Group, a platform for leading industry females to network and celebrate successes. She chairs the Million Women Mentors Women in Insurance Initiative. In addition, Margaret serves as the U.S. committee chair for the Insurance Supper Club, which provides a network and forum for senior-level women in the insurance industry on a global basis. She is also a proud trustee of The Actuarial Foundation and a champion for Dive In and the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s Women in Insurance Conference Series.
