Jacobson Shares Perspective on Developing the Next Generation of Leaders

March 15, 2017

CHICAGO– With nearly a quarter of all industry employees nearing retirement by 2018, a massive change in workplace dynamics is looming on the horizon. In order to combat this growing gap, insurers are turning to their Generation X and Millennial professionals to assume industry leadership. Kylee Lacson, assistant vice president at The Jacobson Group, will be moderating a panel discussing the evolution of workplace demographics, as well as strategies for retaining and transitioning the next generation into industry leaders. She will share her insights at the 2017 Life Office Management Association (LOMA) Customer Experience Conference in Las Vegas, Nev.

“The ability to attract, develop and retain top Generation X and Millennial talent will determine organizations’ successes and failures as the talent crisis worsens,” said Lacson. “The industry must fully redefine career development in order to effectively grow the next generation of leaders.”

Lacson will moderate a panel titled “Solving the Leadership Challenge: Strategies for Transitioning Generation X and Millennial Professionals into Industry Leaders” at 9:15 a.m. on March 31, 2017. Laura Humphries, Vice President of Policy Services at Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company; Allen Johnson, Director of Individual Annuity Operations at Lincoln Financial Group; and Michael Rebholz, Assistant Vice President of Life & Annuity Contact Center Operations at Protective Insurance will share their insights as panelists. They will delve into the changing generational dynamic of today’s workforce, strategies for transitioning next generation professionals into industry leaders and best practices for attracting emerging talent.

As assistant vice president for Jacobson’s life and disability subject matter experts team, Lacson provides organizations access to professionals with functional expertise and consultant-level talent for special projects and short-term needs in accounting, actuarial, claims, compliance, marketing, risk management, technology and underwriting. Active in the insurance industry, Lacson has earned her Associate, Life Management Institute and LOMA’s Associate, Customer Service designations and is currently pursuing her Fellow, Life Management Institute designation. Lacson was also a member of the inaugural Certificate in Retirement Essentials class in December 2014 and plans to complete the Fellow, Secure Retirement Institute program when LOMA finalizes the remaining courses. She is also active in several additional industry organizations, such as the Association of Home Office Underwriters and the Society of Actuaries.
