Jacobson Places Chief Executive Officer at Safe Auto

CHICAGO — The Jacobson Group has placed Ronald H. Davies as Chief Executive Officer of Safe Auto Insurance Co., a property and casualty insurance company providing state minimum insurance coverage to automobile drivers in 16 states. This announcement marks the first outside hire of a chief executive officer in the company’s 19-year history. The search was conducted by the executive search and selection practice of The Jacobson Group, the nation’s largest provider of insurance talent.

In his new role, Davies will manage the day-to-day operations at Safe Auto, paving the way for founders Ari Deshe, chairman and CEO, and Jon Diamond, president and chief operating officer, to step away from the day-to-day management of the company. They will remain with Safe Auto as chairmen of the board of directors.

Davies previously served as senior vice president of operations at one of the largest publicly held personal lines property and casualty insurers in America. In that role, Davies was responsible for home and automobile products and their pricing in 27 states, accounting for approximately $9 billion in premiums. Prior, Davies held leadership positions with insurers including ICAT Holdings, LLC, a specialty writer of catastrophe exposed commercial and residential property; and Progressive Insurance Co. Davies holds a bachelor’s degree in management and economics from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point and a MBA from Harvard Business School.
